Dialogue between Cultures:
The role of the young generations in the development of the society through
creativity, technology and traditional knowledge
A week of meetings with groups of international students and graduates, on different topics with lectures and research and a great opportunity to visit Florence and its museums
Who can participate:
Universities can select a professor and a group of students to take part in one of the workshops. They can contact the project leader which will give information on a research that the group have to prepare before coming to Florence. All the researches will be uploaded on the dedicated webpage following the guidelines of the Project Leader.
Once received confirmation by the Project Leaders all the participants should register on the online form of the workshop and proceed with payment, in order to confirm the participation and the booking of the room. If the group needs VISA, we can support with preparation of the invitation letter. After payment the tutor can fill out and send this file to firstname.lastname@example.org.
STUDENTS and GRADUATES
Students and Graduates can take part as single participants to the workshops. In this case they have to contact the project leader presenting their portfolio and/or their CV, in order to receive the confirmation and the information of the work they should prepare before coming.
Once received confirmation by the Project Leaders they should register on the online form as single participants and proceed with payment, in order to confirm the participation and the booking of the room.If they need VISA, after payment, they can send request of invitation letter email@example.com specifying the following information:
- Complete Name and Last Name (as in the passport)
- Number of the passport and validity (and *.Pdf or *.Jpg copy of valid passport)
- Date and place of birth
- Complete address (where you wish to receive all the documents)
- Dates of permanence in Florence
- Name of the University
The participation to the workshop includes also the entrance to the events organized in the program of the Florence World Festival. Participants which are graduated can also decide to present their degree project and participate in the Life Beyond Tourism Award with a supplement on the workshop fee. The Role and the Possibilities of Traditional Craftsmanship in Contemporary Architecture with the Example of Florence
Project Leader: Prof. Balazs Balogh and Prof. Michel Bonnette
Topic: Contemporary architects have forgotten about craftsmanship. The goal of this workshop is to bring students in architecture to reflect on the concept of craftsmanship as a potential component of new architecture and to bring practicing architects to use these crafts in a new manner, with their contemporary eyes and feelings. Good architects are always looking for new ideas, perhaps it is possible to influence their future architectural designs by showing them what can be achieved if they use the old techniques of craftsmanship in a contemporary manner. New Urbanism, Issues Related to Experience of Florentine Workshops
Project Leader: Prof. Milan Prodanovic
Topic: The workshop is to introduce a basic set of ideas about NEW URBNISM, as a set of practices and now as a movement with the wide span of interpretations (urban renaissance, cities after cars etc…) but as related to the specific context of City of Florence as perceived and experienced by many workshops for students in the past decade. Make design and build it! Using and reusing of alternative building materials
Project Leader: Prof. Nadiya Yeksaryova
Topic: Analysis of the existing experience in world practice of the use of alternative building materials for the organization of short-term space, or durable. Learning and skills of building projecting objects in the natural scale. Studying the psychological impact of three-dimensional tracks in the real value of sensation and perception of rights. G/Local fashion design today: the dialogue between global and local dressing cultures
Project Leader: Prof. Paola Puma
Topic: We often can see in many cultural and material fields the mix between global and local characters of our way of life: in food tasting, arts experiences, the same travel habits etc.
The workshop wants to explore the cultural dimensions, to express ideas using visual skills and to product paper/multimedia contents about the theme. READ MORE
Architecture Heritage in the Hands of the Youth
Project Leader: Prof. Valentina Serebryanaya
Topic: Heritage conservation is a problem relevant world-wide. The goals of the project are the regional architecture heritage examples and proposals for their reconstruction and adaptation for the needs of the modern city. During the workshop the participants should find the original appearance of the monument and integrate them in the city environment. READ MORE
