Prof. Ray Hutchison

Ray Hutchison is chair of Urban and Regional Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. He received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Chicago and is coauthor of The New Urban Sociology (Perseus Books) and series editor of Research in Urban Sociology (Emerald Publishing). He is a member of the Roundtable of Experts and received the International Award of Merit from Fondazione Romualdo Del Bianco in 2008.

The Tourist City
Abstract: The Tourist City is a series of presentations and roundtables that explores the study of tourism across disciplines – economics, history, sociology -- and interdisciplinary fields – cultural studies, tourist studies, urban studies. Presentations will be organized around important themes in the study of tourism, including fast tourism, history of tourism, sustainable tourism, tourism encounters. The program connects with the Del Bianco Foundation initiative Life Beyond Tourism.
